Dr. Temístocles José Araúz Rojas (Machala, October 14, 1871 – ?) was an Ecuadorian doctor, writer, and politician. His best known work is the hymn of El Oro province. He wrote political articles for several newspapers in the country, including El Telégrafo, Diario de Avisos, and El Tiempo. He served as governor of El Oro province and then senator for 9 years.
Education and career
Araúz attended secondary school at the San Vicente School, now known as the Vicente Rocafuerte School, in Guayaquil and graduated as a doctor from the University of Guayaquil, where he also founded the Association of Medicine; later, he received the medal of merit as the best student courtesy of the Guayas Philanthropic Society. He was a surgeon at the Teófilo Dávila Hospital and Director of Health of the Coast before becoming governor of El Oro province and then senator for 9 years.

His parents were Temístocles Baltazar Araúz and Ana de los Ángeles Rojas Serrano.
